Herman “Bucky P” Perry has been a member of the ADC Fraternity since 1974 and started his community career service in the Charleston Community and surrounding areas by volunteering to support the Charleston Navy Medical Hospital and military Base, Greater St. Luke AME Church in the City of Charleston, the Jenkins Orphanage, Coastal Center, and supported the fraternity Big Brother Program. He volunteered for Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) to support Domestic Violence Services.
Current Community Impact: Oversees the federal government contract for the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), the nation’s alert and warning infrastructure.
During an emergency, alert and warning officials need to provide the public with life-saving information quickly. IPAWS is a modernization and integration of the nation’s alert and warning infrastructure, and will save time when time matters most, protecting life and property of federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and communities across the nation. Volunteered and participated as a Disaster Survivor Assistance Specialist, supporting communities impacted/devastated during severe weather or manmade events.
Goal: Render community services, perform volunteer projects, and perform non-profit projects and assistance to under privileged children in the communities, improving community and individual economic development.
